What is BioGeometry?

Understanding the Relationship Between Life, Place & Environment

Every place has its own character. Some feel calm, welcoming, and supportive. Others feel busy, draining, or uncomfortable, even when there's no obvious reason why.

Most of us recognise these differences instinctively.

BioGeometry is the study of the relationship between life, place, and environment. At its foundation is a simple observation: the qualities of a place emerge through relationships — from the way the many influences present interact as part of a greater whole.

Quality & Quantity

Modern science has developed very precise methods for measuring the physical world. Frequency, voltage, temperature, mass, and distance can all be measured with remarkable accuracy.

BioGeometry builds upon this understanding by exploring a different aspect of the same world: quality.

We experience quality every day — in the harmony of music, the balance of architecture, the craftsmanship of an object, or the atmosphere of a space.

Consider a piece of music. Individual notes each have their own qualities, but harmony emerges through the relationships between them, not from any single note alone.

Quantity tells us about individual properties.

Quality explores how those properties interact within a greater whole.

Within BioGeometry, these qualitative characteristics can be identified and measured using specialised methods and tools.

A Place is Shaped by Relationships

BioGeometry views every environment as an interconnected whole, shaped by many different influences — including location, architecture, materials, natural surroundings, technology, and human activity, each contributing to the particular quality of a place.

Among the many qualitative factors BioGeometry explores in an environment are:

  • Form & Proportion
  • Colour & Sound
  • Movement & Orientation

Each has its own qualitative character and contributes, alongside the wider influences present, to our experience of a place.

The Meaning of the Name

The name BioGeometry reflects the meaning at the heart of the science:

  • Bio — Life
  • Geo — Earth
  • Metry — Measurement

Its founder, Dr Ibrahim Karim, describes BioGeometry as the measurement of the life-force energy of the Earth:

"Everything is a manifestation of life force."

Within BioGeometry, this life-force energy is explored through the qualitative relationships found in nature, living systems, and the environments we create and inhabit.

From Understanding to Application

For more than fifty years, BioGeometry has evolved through research, teaching, and practical application, expanding into fields including architecture, environmental design, agriculture, telecommunications, transportation, product design, and contemporary living spaces.

Rather than blocking, shielding, or removing environmental influences, BioGeometry works with a place as it already exists. Through specialised methods and tools, a trained practitioner connects with and activates the background BG3 qualities present within it — the central reference for balance within BioGeometry.

BioGeometry Environmental Home Solutions (BG EHS) brings this approach into homes and workplaces, supporting a more harmonious relationship between the environment and the people, animals, and plants that share it.

Ultimately, BioGeometry begins with a question that has occupied architects, builders, and civilisations for thousands of years:

How can the places we inhabit work in greater harmony with the life they support?

A Personal Consultation About Your Home

If you're considering BioGeometry Home Harmonisation and would like to explore whether it is right for you and your property, you can book a personal consultation with me.
